Knock the Vote

I recently watched a video clip featuring a group of elderly citizens discussing the importance of voting. They try to get the point across that young people should go out and vote, even though the message they portray is for them not to vote. They keep saying don't vote, it's ok because if the young people don't vote, they older generation will continue to be the only ones voting. They stress that they vote because they care and it's important to their generation, but does not seem as important to the younger generation.  So what they were really saying was, that it's important for the younger generation to vote because the current day issues are different and that if we want to stand up for our issues and opinions we should all vote. After watching this video, I was not really sure how to feel about it, but I do understand the point they were trying to get across. Nike Takes a Knee with Kaepernick

At the end of the day, every business is striving to create profit, no matter how large. Companies, such as Nike, gain publicity and notice from connecting to their customers. Recently, Nike took a stand, by hiring Colin Kaepernick, former NFL player for the San Fransisco 49ers. Colin Kaepernick is most famous for his pre-game actions, where he kneels for the national anthem. Kneeling during the anthem was his way of bringing notice to racism in America. Many fans turned their backs on him, while others praised him for his courageous actions. After Kaepernick was fired, Nike hired him for their brand. He is now the face of Nike's ad, where they promote believing in, and achieving dreams. Since then, there has been a controversy of opinions. Some people agree with Kaepernick's actions, in protest, while others are reacting harshly.
